June 26, 2023
Sup lads, I thought I'd give an update at home before I go off to camp next week.
The goodbyes were extremely hard when I left, I didn't think I would miss it but it is hard adjusting back to life in Canada. So far, I haven't seemed to sit down for longer then 3 hours, because life keeps throwing curveballs my way. I am meeting for coffee almost everyday this week and would love to continue meeting up with you.
I will be volunteering at camp for two weeks, and then I will hopefully be relaxing a little bit before finding a job. If you would like to support me with camp that would be greatly appreciated, whether that be prayers, meeting for coffee and giving encouragement or donations. I would love to reach out to you guys. My plans after camp are open until the last weekend of July, the weekend of the Vermillion Fair where I will spend time with my family at the small town fair, than I hopefully will do small backpacking trip in Montana with an SBS student from the Montana base. I went to Kona, Hawaii for my DTS with her so I am super excited to see her and learn what has happened in her life since then!
I would love to meet when I am free! I had to get a new phone number when I got here, it is +1 587-284-3060 reach out to me or call me and I would be happy to tell you guys about my life and the school!
I plan on doing a whole bible horizontal and link as much as I can throughout the bible and then be able to study whatever I want whenever I want, this will likely take me 4-6 months to complete because I will be going at my own pace but I would love to keep updating you guys on stuff I find.
Until then please pray for clarity on what to do next and endurance to do that with a clear mind and a mind that follows God.
Until then Grace and Peace be with you
If you want to read the details of my year, you can find it all here: www.thepawlaks.ca/ywam-journal

Thank you so much for your prayers that helped me complete my SBS Year!
Thanksgivings
Please pray for next steps and for commitment to God and continued study.
"Hunter is amazing at camp. I'm here counselling Jr. High Girls, and he's a super great fit!
He's mature, funny, wise, thoughtful, competitive and super great with the kids!"

"I worked with Hunter this past summer and I was so encouraged by his servant-hearted leadership. He showed genuine interest and care in all who came across his path, no matter their age. He was ready to help at a moment’s notice and took initiative to jump in to lead or to help where needed. He had a calming, confident and unflappable presence in difficult or crisis moments. He listened to and mentored younger leaders with care. Hunter is beloved by campers, volunteers and staff alike. He is fun! I believe he has a teachable spirit. In him I see a man who is following after God’s heart. I’m genuinely excited to see how God uses him and works in him as he continues following along this path!"
Deanna Pearce, Adult Counsellor at Pine Lake Christian Camp, August 12, 2022

Thank you for tuning in and being part of this thrilling journey!
I am excited to share a little bit of what is going on in my life right now.
While serving in Mexico for my YWAM Outreach, I saw God move in many ways, in healings, in strength and by seeing people give their lives to Jesus. I came home with a lot on my mind and eager to follow where God may next lead me. He answered one of my prayers by providing an electrical job immediately upon my return and I was able to save quite a bit of money, over 3 months, while continuing into my 2nd year of the electrical program.
For the past few months I have felt like I want to take my relationship with God to a deeper level, based in scripture. There is a secondary YWAM school called SBS (School of Biblical Studies) where you read through the bible and study each and every verse to understand the meaning that much more. I would be spending 50-60 hours a week working on assignments and projects that will push me to be in the Bible constantly. I am excited to attend SBS and gain a better understanding of the Bible. This knowledge will help me anytime that I am working with youth, at camps and youth groups, etc. to be a confident speaker. I will develop a strong Biblical worldview and can continue to understand why it is such an important tool in our society today. In addition, with SBS, I will set myself up to have a foundation in Christ for the rest of my life. By doing this I will be better prepared for what the world is going to throw my way, no matter my future occupation.
I have been wrestling between 2 locations to go to this school, the first is Lakeside, Montana, and the second is Sunshine Coast, Australia. I was leaning toward Montana because it was closer to home and it seemed more feasible, so I kept praying about it asking for a sign to show me where to go when one of my friends from YWAM asked me if I was going to do SBS in Australia. Taking that as a sign from God given to me on a silver platter, I decided to compare both of the options cost wise, and I found out that Australia is $2,500 less than Montana including the flights, travel insurance, visa, etc. (mainly due to the dollar exchange between all three countries). With all of this information I have linked documents below that break down the total cost and how I will pay for all of it. I am humbly asking people to financially partner with me for this second portion of YWAM.
Within the SBS program, there are two options. The first option is to do the SBS for 9 months in one location. The second option is to do the SBS for 9 months in one location followed by an outreach portion (location tbd) for 3 months. I have included my fundraising goals, for both options and will prayerfully wait for God’s answer as to what will be possible for me. I do not have to sign up for the outreach portion immediately, but I can take some time to discern what is best. For the school and outreach, I would need to raise $7,700 (the equivalent of 154 - $50 donations, and for the school only portion I would need to raise $3,100 (62 - $50 donations). Due to the extended time-frame for the program, both (Montana and Australia) programs begin very soon, on September 19, 2022.
This summer I was blessed to work at Pine Lake Christian Camp this summer where I got the opportunity to share God’s Kingdom with a younger generation. I have continued to save my money all summer.
I would love to meet with any or all of you starting in mid August and talk about the YWAM possibilities that lie ahead for me. Thank you for your prayers and consideration.
**I am using my parent's website so that I can send out easy updates to those interested in partnering with me during this time.
Here is a link to the YWAM SBS AUSTRALIA website, but detailed school information is pasted below.
The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is a nine-month course in which students study all 66 books of the Bible. An inductive approach is taught, in which students observe what the text says and then let it shape their beliefs.
During the school, students will be working, studying, and living in a close-knit community of fellow students who are on the journey through the Bible together. They are given hands-on instruction in the principles of observation, interpretation, and application. They will survey each book and discover the big picture, while also digging into the details paragraph by paragraph. Emphasis is placed on understanding the cultural and historic background of each author and original reader of a book. The student will be interpreting Scripture with the mindset of the original reader, then they will take the timeless truths and apply them personally. Students will have opportunities to live out what they are learning; this is not a school of simply head knowledge, but also of practical application. SBS staff members will meet weekly with the students to aid in their personal growth, understanding of Scripture, and application of the inductive method.

As followers of Jesus, we believe in the importance of knowing and understanding the Word of God on a deeper level, and that every individual have that opportunity to learn how to study, discover, and apply the truths of God’s Word to their own lives.
Whether you’re called to full time ministry in the unreached parts of the 10/40 window* or to starting a business in your hometown, SBS will aid you in your calling.
Having a Biblical foundation will influence how you will live your life, make decisions and interact with others. SBS not only teaches you how to study the Bible for yourself, it also equips you with the tools needed to give God's Word to others. These 9 months are an investment that will shape the rest of your life.

* The 10/40 Window is a term coined by Christian missionary strategist and Partners International CEO Luis Bush in 1990 to refer to those regions of the eastern hemisphere, plus the European and African part of the western hemisphere, located between 10 and 40 degrees north of the equator, a general area that was purported to have the highest level of socioeconomic challenges and least access to the Christian message and Christian resources on the planet.
